St Georges Prayer for Street Pastors Saturday 24 March.
Taunton Street Pastors depend heavily on prayer support and request that each church takes responsibility for prayer cover for one patrol per quarter. St Georges next slot is Saturday 24 March. We need people willing to commit to pray for those patrolling the streets seeking to care, listen and help.

The prayer slot needs a minimum of three people (no maximum number) to remain at the Street Pastor base at North St Church for as long as possible between 9.30pm and 4am on the Saturday night. The team on the street are in frequent phone contact with those praying at the base with specific and immediate prayer requests. Potential fights dissolve when several are praying for peace. Besides prayer, there are refreshments and it is a great way to get to know people from other churches. It may be possible for one or two of the prayer support group to come out on the streets as ‘observers’. Please contact Barbara Winterson on 275485 or Brenda Arscott.

Thank you to all those who helped with all the extra preparations for Christmas – church cleaning, decorating, moving chairs, preparation for services, hospitality, refreshments, readers, musicians etc. It was a wonderful time and there were many voices of appreciation after all our services. A special thanks to Elaine and the choir for leading our services so well, and a special thank you from Jenny for her very generous and surprise Christmas gift, presented by the Churchwardens at the Carol Service on Sunday evening. It has been a very blessed Christmas.

February 5th is Education Sunday and young people and staff from Bishop Henderson School will be taking part in the service as they lead us through their involvement with the worldwide “ Rights Respecting Childhood”, which is linked with the Millenium Development Goals.
TCT would like to thank those who gave choc bars and braved the cold and wet to distribute 1100 + chocolate bars and leaflets to late night shoppers and revellers at the “TCT Chocolate Bar Give-Away”. The ‘handing out of gifts met with mixed reactions – some totally ignored us; some were suspicious; others couldn’t believe that anyone would give something away for nothing; but most were very glad to receive a free gift from the Churches in Taunton.

It was a cold and wet night, but our hearts were warmed by some of the comments we received, and to see so many faces suddenly light up and smile.

JESUS – THE REAL GIFT OF CHRISTMAS
TCT CHOCOLATE BAR COLLECTION
Following the total success of the “Christmas Give-away” it has been decided to repeat the exercise this year.
Last year we gave away around 1600 re-wrapped chocolate bars and DVD‟s and leaflets to the late night shoppers in around an hour.
The “Give-Away” will take place on Thursday 15th December.
I have once again agreed to coordinate the collection and wrapping of the gifts. Donations of chocolate bars and Christmas wrapping paper (see below) should be brought to the United Reformed Church (Paul Street) on Friday 25th November between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
Wrapping will take place 10.00am – 4.30pm on Wed 30th Nov, Thurs 1st & Fri 2nd Dec also at Paul Street. Volunteers from the churches are welcome and necessary. Babs Winterson (275485) will be helping with the wrapping and said that last year it was good fun, full of Christmas spirit and fellowship. She could provide a lift for anyone that would like to go. The chocolate bars should be „full size‟ (not fun size) Mars, Crunchie, Wispa, Twirl, Starbars, Picnic, DoubleDecker etc. (It would be nice to avoid Nestle). If you would like to donate chocolate bars, please drop them in to Grace at the office or leave in the box on the font. Thanks
