ADVENT FAMILY FUN LUNCH 7th December 2014

Once again nearly 80 people packed into the church hall.

We all enjoyed crafts organised around an Advent theme, followed by a delicious lunch. A new Advent tradition was introduced  -chips were served after the puddings as the oven was slow to cook such  large quantities!  Then a time to finish off making Advent crowns, lanterns, stars, calendars, a nativity scene and even a word search followed, before we all made our way over to church for a service of light.

Helium balloons depicting “Jesus Light of the World”, and lively music, helped to make this a lively service of life ,energy and celebration. We left feeling the warmth of the fellowship and waving our glow sticks as we sang “walk in the light of Christ”

Chaplaincy:

The Associate Vicar at St George’s, the Revd Jenny Jeffery is the chaplain at Bishop Henderson School.

The post was created nearly seven years ago to in response to The Diocesan initiative “Changing Lives, Changing Churches, Changing Communities”, and works to deepen and extend links into the community.

It is currently funded by The Diocesan fund for Church growth, St George’s and St Michael’s churches, the school and a trust fund.

It is a “fresh expression” of church and enables the church to be in the community. At the school, supporting staff, governors, pupils and their families, and with the Family Support Worker and the Children’s Centre.
