About Us
At St George’s we believe our mission is as follows:
Worship
Deuteronomy 6:5 says “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength” – all that we do should be worship to God.
Nurture
John 13:34 – 35 says “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” We must care for other members of the church so that others may see our love.
Outreach
Matthew 22: 39 says “Love your neighbour as yourself.” We must go out and show God’s love to those around us
Resource
St George’s endeavours to do the above through the sharing of the great resources with which we have been blessed – be they materials, time, or spiritual.
Part of a Bigger Community
We are part of the worldwide Church and because of this it is important to keep links with other groups of Christians both in our local area and the wider world. We have strong links with mission partners serving around the world (find out more on our Links Page) and St George’s is part of a Local Ministry Group made up of Saints Peter & Paul, Bishops Hull, St Michael’s Galmington, All Saints, Trull with St Michael’s Angersleigh. Details of local Churches can be found on www.tauntonchurches.org
Responsible Stewards
We believe that it is important to take good care of the world God created for us. So St George’s is delighted to have an Eco-congregation Award. The award has been developed by A Rocha UK who aim to affirm good practice in environmental stewardship and help churches witness to the importance of caring for God’s creation. You can find out more about what this means on the Eco-congregation Website. We are working towards a Green Policy in the hall too.
